Shooting Star Reds
JED STEELE'S SHOOTING STAR
PINOT NOIR
SANTA BARBARA COUNTY
This is a lighter wine, which has the characteristic red berry fruit and low tannins of Pinot noir. This is definitely a quaffing wine and not a wine for long term cellaring. It has good fruit aromas and an easy to drink style that should be good with a variety of foods.
The philosophy at Steele Wines has always been to produce
the highest quality wine that we could. Since we have selected
some of California’s finest vineyards to provide
us with the best grapes possible is should be easy to make
the best wine each year. However, Mother Nature always
rules and even in a good vintage from a good vineyard we
may have wines which we feel are not up to the quality
for a bottling under the Steele label. In 2000 we found
that some of our lots of Pinot Noir from Bien Nacido Vineyards
and Goodchild Vineyards we not as concentrated as we would
have liked. Of course our loss is your gain and wonderful
fruit flavors and the essential earthiness of Santa Barbara
Pinot Noir is yours to enjoy in this moderately priced
wine.
We used a combination of French and American oak barrels.
The overall percentage of new oak is about 18%. The wine
was aged for 12 months and then racked to stainless steel
tanks for blending prior to bottling.
Try some with a grilled burger or maybe with a hearty
bowl of seafood stew. |
